We've begun reading a new Shakespeare play, "Much Ado About Nothing" or "Noting" as we learned it meant in Elizabethan times. This is a great play, with plots, twist and wit. Don't miss out by not reading it! Also, please make sure you are reading the commentary as well!
In Philosophy, we move on to Hume. This is a look forward, but remember that the final for this class will be a compare and contrast essay on two of the philosophers we have been studying. You might want to begin identifying those philosophers now. We've really been exploring the origins of our thought processes and what it means to align those thoughts with a moral absolute. We have seen the philosophers who embrace God as the means and source of all knowledge and wisdom, and those who don't. So keep reading carefully! We have some really interesting ones left to study!
In US History, we continued on with our study/discussion of the Founding Fathers and our first generation of leaders. There will be a short quiz next week. Everyone should know accomplishments of George Washington's presidency, the differences between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, Alexander Hamilton's fiscal plan, differences between Federalists and Anti-federalists, and the significance of the Louisiana Purchase, to name a few. This is not an all-inclusive list, so study Chapters 4 and 5!
